Job Summary :
n AnEndoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing careto patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures relatedto the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The RN works closely withendoscopy teams, including gastroenterologists, to ensure patientsafety, comfort, and optimal outcomes during endoscopic proceduressuch as colonoscopies, upper GI endoscopies, and other relatedinterventions. nn
Key Responsibilities :
n n Prepare and care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures,ensuring they are informed, comfortable, and ready for theprocedure. n Administer medications, including sedation, analgesics, and othersupportive treatments as prescribed. n Monitor patients throughout the procedure, providing sedation,assessing vital signs, and ensuring patient safety. n Assist the gastroenterologist during procedures, maintainingsterile technique and ensuring the endoscopy equipment isfunctioning properly. n Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate care, providepost-procedure instructions, and assist with patient dischargeplanning. n Educate patients and families on preparation for endoscopicprocedures, post-procedure care, and potential side effects orcomplications. n Document patient care, procedures, and outcomes accurately andthoroughly. n Monitor patients for complications such as sedation-related issues,bleeding, or infections, and respond appropriately. n Maintain a safe and sterile environment, adhering to infectioncontrol protocols. n Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to endoscopycare and patient safety. n Provide emotional support to patients, addressing anxiety orconcerns related to the procedures. n Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to support theoverall care of patients undergoing endoscopic evaluations. n nn

Education :
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted. n
Licensure :
n n Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.n n n
Certification :
n n Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. n Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. n Endoscopy Certification (such as CGRN) preferred. n n n•
