Job Summary:
The RN performs under the Nursing Supervisor/Patient Care Coordinator and is accountable to the Patient Care Coordinator. The RN demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Performance Expectations Properly utilize the equipment you are assigned, including, but not limited to, telemetry monitors, wound vacs, IV infusion pumps, glucose monitors, telehealth, and defibrillators. Move equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or the patient. Complete thorough physical assessment of patients and report any identified decline in change of status to the supervisor and provider on duty Complete accurate use of a central line and the care, IV insertion/care and blood transfusions. Always respect and maintain the confidentiality and dignity of the patient by utilizing the We C.A.R.E philosophy. Communicate and interact with care providers and team members, patients/families and visitors utilizing the We C.A.R.E philosophy. Provide patient care with excellent professionalism. Safely maintain the sterile field as needed. Identify patient’s medications, remove them from omnicell accurately, and complete barcode scanning and medication administration accurately. Verify patient orders and perform said orders. Accurately enter provider-generated orders in the Electronic Health Record. Monitor supply levels and order supplies accordingly. Collect, label, and deliver specimens to the lab in a timely manner. Prioritize workload while completing multitasks. Utilize the EMR for the provision of patient care. Educate the patient and family on diagnosis, care being provided, and medications. Supervise and delegate patient care tasks to team members, including nurse aid, volunteers, and ancillary department staff. Complete walking rounds with the oncoming shift and include the patient and family in the report. Accurately complete all documentation requirements on admission, shift, transfer, or discharge. This includes patient types of inpatient, short stay, outpatient, and swing bed. Reports to work when notified of an emergency operation needed Completes annual competency fair and evaluations Communicates and works well with physicians on duty and all team members. Maintains isolation procedure as indicated according to policy Compliance 100% with handwashing. Maintains clean and neat work space, Workstations on Wheels, and Patient Rooms Reviews Quality Indicators monthly and strives to exceed goals Checks email at the beginning and end of each shift. Completes all assigned healthstream modules prior to assigned deadline Attends and completes
Annual Competency Training Course Qualifications:
Education/Skills Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program is required.
Work Experience:
One year of medical/surgical nursing care preferred, but not required. Certification/Licensure-DUE
