Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dynamic MedSurg-Ortho unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center. This is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment ideal for nurses who are confident in their clinical skills and comfortable with surgical overflow and orthopedic post-operative patients. This is an urgent backfill need with immediate interviews and quick onboarding.

Patient Ratio:
1:5 standard (may increase to 1:6); adjusted for acuity
Typical Patient Population:
Post-op ortho (including total joints), general medical-surgical overflow
Floating:
Within MedSurg units as needed (within RN skillset)
Required Qualifications:
Active RN license (multi-state or state-specific) BLS required ; ACLS preferred (required for charge roles) Must have Level 1 Trauma experience Comfortable with post-op patients, chest tubes, central lines Experience titrating heparin drips Prior experience with Epic EMR and Omnicell preferred

Shifts:
12 hours – Days (7a-7p) or Nights (7p-7a)
Scheduling:
Travelers expected to fill scheduling needs; block scheduling considered based on unit needs
Weekends:
Every other or two per month
Holiday Rotation:
Required, integrated with core staff
Orientation:
1 onboarding/admin day + 2 precepted shifts
Scrub Color:
Any solid, professional color
Support:
Charge RN (may take light assignment), in-house house supervisor, respiratory therapy, monitor techs
