JOB SUMMARY

The Vascular Access Nurse is responsible for the insertion ofPeripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) orMidlinecatheters. Provide maintenance and follow-up care for PICC lines and centrallines. Serve as preceptors for RN’s who have successfully completed atraining course for the insertion of PICC Lines. Initiates training and education for nursing staff, patient/familyas required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs assessment skills. Plans nursing care. Intervenes with appropriate action after needs are identified. Evaluates the assessment, planning and intervention process. Demonstrates professional and personal development. Delivers direct patient care appropriate to age of patient servedincluding adult and geriatric patients. Obtain physician order, consent, perform arterial line insertionand documentation

Qualifications:
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education x Graduate of a Program in Discipline

  • Preferred x Required Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS),

  • to be obtained within 30 days. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS),
  • to be obtainedwithin 6 months Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),
  • to be obtained within 6months TNCC,
  • to be obtained within 6 months Minimum Work Experience Training in
