Job Description Job Description Job Description Job Summary TheRegistered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered care through thenursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation,and evaluation. This role is responsible for coordinating anddelivering high-quality care based on established clinicalprotocols and physician/provider orders. The RN collaborates withphysicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensureeffective patient care and desired outcomes, while maintaining asupportive and compassionate environment for patients and theirfamilies. - Coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centeredcare in accordance with organizational policies, protocols, and thenursing process.
- Conducts thorough patient assessments anddocuments findings accurately, reporting changes in condition tothe appropriate care team members.
- Utilizes knowledge of humangrowth and development to provide age-appropriate care andeducation.
- Administers prescribed medications, monitors for sideeffects, and documents administration in accordance with standardsof practice.
- Assists physicians during procedures within thescope of documented competency and skill level.
- Collaborates withthe healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluateindividualized care plans based on patient assessments and needs.
- Responds to medical emergencies and participates in life-savinginterventions, such as CPR and code team activities, asappropriate.
- Advocates for the rights and needs of patients,ensuring their voices are heard and respected in care planning anddelivery.
- Provides patient and family education on medicalconditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care, ensuringunderstanding and adherence to instructions.
- Implements andadheres to infection control protocols to prevent the spread ofhealthcare-associated infections.
- Monitors and operates medicalequipment (e.g., IV pumps, monitors, ventilators) as needed forpatient care and safety.
- Promotes patient safety by adhering toNational Patient Safety Goals and maintaining a clean, safeenvironment for patients and staff.
- Participates in audits, chartreviews, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to standards ofpractice and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates responsibledecision-making in planning, delegating, and providing care basedon patient needs and organizational policies.
- Documents patientcare and education thoroughly and promptly in the medical record.
- Engages in professional development to maintain clinical competencyand understanding of current nursing standards and regulations.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives, including datacollection and process development, to enhance patient outcomes andcare delivery.

Obstetrics/Labor and Delivery/Post Partum/NurseryRN:
- Educates patients about pregnancy, provides prenatalscreenings, and prepares patients for labor and delivery.
- Assesses and monitors the new mother’s physical recovery, includingvital signs, postpartum hemorrhage, and potential complicationslike postpartum depression.
- Assists with epidurals and other painmanagement techniques during labor.
- Administers pain medication,induces labor, and manages other medication needs during labor anddelivery.
- Assists during labor and delivery, monitors fetalwell-being, administers medications, and provides pain relief.
Monitors mothers and newborns after delivery, assessing theirwell-being, and providing education on postpartum care andbreastfeeding.
- Assesses and monitors newborn health, taking vitalsigns, performing routine assessments, and educating parents onnewborn care.
- Assists with gynecological exams and procedures,and provides education on reproductive health, contraception, andprenatal care.
- Educates patients about family planning,fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
- Interpretsfetal heart rate patterns and assesses fetal well-being usingelectronic fetal monitoring. Qualifications
- 0-2 years ofexperience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotationsin an acute care setting required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of the nursing process and clinical nursingpractices.
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments andcommunicate findings effectively.
- Proficient in administeringmedications and monitoring for side effects.
- Effectivecommunication and interpersonal skills to collaborate withinterdisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills andattention to detail in documenting patient care.
- Knowledge ofsafety standards, infection control, and quality improvementinitiatives. Licenses and Certifications
- RN•Registered Nurse•State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required•BCLS•Basic Life Support required•ACLS•Advanced Cardiac Life Supportpreferred•PALS•Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred•NRP•Neonatal Resuscitation preferred•Refer to facility orunit-specific guidelines for additional requirements.
