Position Summary:

Providesdirect patient care to patients using the nursing process inaccordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatments . Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assistspatients with performing activities of daily living, includingpersonal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs ofpatient and/or family and provides patient/family educationappropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works asan advocate for the physical and emotional wellbeing of thepatient.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Registered Nursefrom the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State requiredBachelor’s degree preferred Requires critical thinking skills,decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action . Requires flexibility in scheduling and abilityto work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays toensure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverageto the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units. Basic LifeSupport (BLS) American Heart Association required Other -S.T.A.B.L.E. preferred
