TravelNurseSource is working with Magnet Medical to find aqualified IMC RN in Hickory, North Carolina, 28601! Pay Information$1,768 per week About The Position As an Intermediate Care (IMC)Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide specialized nursing care topatients who require a higher level of monitoring and interventionthan general medical-surgical patients but do not require intensivecare unit (ICU) level care. You will assess, monitor, and managepatients’ conditions, collaborating with healthcare teams to ensuretimely and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
PatientAssessment and Monitoring:
Perform comprehensive assessments ofpatients’ health status upon admission and throughout their stay inthe IMC unit. Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenationlevels, and other physiological parameters, identifying changes andresponding promptly to acute conditions.
Clinical Care andInterventions:
Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments asprescribed, ensuring accuracy in dosage, administration, andmonitoring of therapeutic responses. Perform complex nursingprocedures such as managing ventilated patients, administeringblood products, and titrating vasoactive medications underphysician supervision.
Critical Thinking and Decision Making:
Utilize clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to assesspatient conditions, prioritize care needs, and initiate appropriateinterventions. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teammembers to develop and modify patient care plans based on ongoingassessments and patient responses.
Patient and Family Education:
Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatmentplans, medications, and self-care strategies to promote recoveryand prevent complications. Provide emotional support and addressconcerns, ensuring patients and families are informed and involvedin decision-making processes.
Documentation and Communication:
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments,interventions, and patient responses in electronic medical records(EMRs). Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teammembers, including physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists,and case managers, to coordinate care plans and ensure continuityof care.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Adhere to hospitalpolicies, protocols, and standards of nursing practice to promotepatient safety and quality of care. Participate in qualityimprovement initiatives, patient safety rounds, andinterdisciplinary rounds to enhance clinical outcomes and patientsatisfaction.
Emergency Response and Crisis Management:
Respond tomedical emergencies and crises within the IMC unit, initiatingrapid interventions and stabilizing patients until higher-levelcare can be provided if needed. Maintain proficiency in AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS) and other emergency procedures relevantto IMC patient care.
Professional Development and Collaboration:
Pursue continuing education and professional developmentopportunities to expand clinical knowledge and stay current withadvancements in IMC nursing practice.
