Cardiovascular Services Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Procedure RN is a critical member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. The RN will support cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology (EP) studies, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), and other cardiovascular procedures by providing pre-, intra-, and post-procedure nursing care.
Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for cardiovascular procedures, including assessments, medication administration, IV insertion, and education. Assist physicians and technicians during catheterizations, angioplasties, pacemaker/ICD insertions, and ablations. Monitor patient status during procedures, including ECG, hemodynamics, oxygen saturation, and vital signs. Administer conscious sedation and monitor the patient’s response per hospital protocol and policy. Maintain aseptic technique and ensure a sterile environment during procedures. Provide post-procedure care, including monitoring for complications, patient education, and discharge planning. Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record. Respond to emergencies, including code situations, utilizing ACLS protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Maintain required certifications and stay updated with best practices in cardiovascular nursing.
Qualifications:
Required:
Current RN license in the state of practice Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (ADN/BSN) BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association) Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in critical care, cardiac care, or procedural nursing
Preferred:
Experience in Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, or EP Lab CCRN or RCIS certification BSN or higher degree in nursing
