The Abdominal Transplant (6DCT) Unit is comprised of 37 beds. Ourteam of nursing staff provide exemplary care for a variety ofcomplex patients with diagnosis such as Pre-Liver Transplant, LiverTransplant, Kidney Transplant, Pancreas Transplant, Small BowelTransplant and Hand Transplant.

- -Procedures/treatments frequently performed includediabetes management, pain management, wound care, telemetry, oxygentherapy, blood product administration, and IV management of fluidsand medications.
- -Affords the clinical experience to attain strong criticalthinking skills, vast knowledge of disease processes and bodysystems, and robust care management skills.
What you will do: As aClinical Nurse in Duke University Health System, you will plan andprovide professional nursing care for patients in accordance withthe medical and nursing plans of care and established policies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the NorthCarolina Board of Nursing.
- -Plan, provide and document professional nursing care,utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with physician ordersand established policies and procedures under the supervision ofthe team leader or charge nurse.
- -Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of otherlicensed and unlicensed care providers.
- -Assist other healthcare personnel in the delivery ofpatient care.
- -Participate in maintaining the environment of careincluding equipment and material resources. Prioritize workorganization and identify resources available to assist incompleting components of care in a timely manner.
- -Participate in own professional development by maintainingrequired competencies, identifying learning needs and seekingappropriate assistance or educational offerings.
- -Support the development of other staff and formallearners.
- -Participate in the identification of clinical oroperational performance improvement opportunities and assist inperformance improvement activities.

- What you will need:
- -Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing(or higher) OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing OR Nursing Diplomaprogram.
- All registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (orhigher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN programwithin two years of their start date and to complete the programwithin five years of their start date.
