Travel ARegistered Nurse (RN) – MedSurg/Telemetry provides comprehensivenursing care to patients in a medical-surgical (MedSurg) unit witha focus on telemetry monitoring. These patients may have a widerange of conditions, including cardiovascular issues, respiratoryconditions, post-operative recovery, and other acute illnesses orinjuries that require constant monitoring. The RN in this role isresponsible for administering medications, monitoring vital signsand heart rhythms, performing assessments, collaborating withhealthcare teams, and providing patient education.

PatientAssessment and Monitoring :

Perform comprehensive and continuousassessments of patients, including evaluating vital signs, heartrhythms (via telemetry), and overall condition. Monitor andinterpret telemetry data to detect any irregularities in heartrate, rhythm, and other vital parameters, notifying the healthcareteam if needed. Assess physical, emotional, and psychological needsof patients, developing individualized care plans to promoterecovery and wellness. Monitor patients for side effects andadverse reactions to medications, immediately reporting any issuesto the physician or healthcare team. Provide pain managementinterventions and adjust care based on patient response and comfortlevel.

Telemetry and Cardiac Monitoring :

Monitor patients withtelemetry units to assess heart rate, rhythm, and overall cardiachealth, documenting and reporting any irregularities to the medicalteam. Assist in the interpretation of telemetry readings, ensuringprompt intervention for any abnormal findings such as arrhythmias,tachycardia, or bradycardia. Maintain and troubleshoot telemetryequipment to ensure proper function and reliable patientmonitoring.

Wound Care and Post-Surgical Care :

Providepost-operative care for surgical patients, including monitoringincision sites, managing drains, and ensuring proper wound healing.

Perform dressing changes, assess for signs of infection, andeducate patients on post-surgical care instructions. Educatepatients and their families on disease management, includingmedication regimens, lifestyle modifications, and post-dischargecare. Offer guidance on managing chronic conditions such ashypertension, diabetes, and heart disease, ensuring patientsunderstand their role in maintaining health. Provide education onfall prevention, nutrition, activity restrictions, and dischargeplanning. Collaboration with

Healthcare Team :

Work closely withphysicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and otherhealthcare providers to implement and adjust patient care plans.

Participate in daily rounds to discuss patient progress, careneeds, and treatment adjustments. Collaborate withinterdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, social work,and dietitians, to provide holistic care to patients.

EmergencyResponse and Critical Care :

Respond promptly to medicalemergencies, including cardiac arrests, respiratory distress, andsudden changes in patient condition. Provide immediateinterventions, including CPR, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS),or other life-saving measures, in collaboration with the healthcareteam. Manage patients who experience acute changes in theircondition, escalating care as necessary (e.g., transferring to ICUif required). Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentationof all assessments, interventions, patient responses, andcommunications in the electronic health record (EHR). Ensure thatpatient information is up-to-date and readily available for otherhealthcare professionals involved in patient care. Report anychanges in patient condition or concerns to the appropriatehealthcare provider and follow up on recommendations.

InfectionControl and Safety :

Follow infection control protocols to preventthe spread of infections, including proper hand hygiene, use ofpersonal protective equipment (PPE), and sterile techniques whennecessary. Ensure patient safety by regularly assessing for fallrisks, managing medications safely, and preventinghospital-acquired infections. Maintain a clean and safe environmentfor patients by adhering to hospital policies and infectionprevention measures.

Quality Improvement and Continuing Education :

Participate in hospital quality improvement initiatives and patientsafety programs aimed at enhancing care delivery and outcomes.
