  • We are recruiting for a Nurse Consultant I at Whitaker PRTF.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide orientation, annual required training, and on-going education to all levels of nursing staff. This position works collaboratively with the other managers and the YPEA II Lead Preceptor. The Nurse Consultant I is responsible for direct patient care on an assigned ward as needed and may be assigned charge nurse duties when there is a facility need. Job duties include but are not limited to:
Audit areas identified as not meeting nursing standards and regulatory standards. The role is in collaboration with the Nursing Leadership, Quality Management, and Performance Improvement initiatives. Provides, communicates and collaborates with various disciplines to ensure education and training occur on a regular basis, including but not limited to small group training, scenarios, policy education, documentation requirements, policy orientation, collaboration between disciplines and within disciplines. Participate in meetings and committees to bridge the gap between disciplines, bringing a perspective that ensures all employees are educated on a basis of where they are. Normal work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm; however, flexibility in work schedule is required to meet Whitaker PRTF needs. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement.

About Whitaker PRTF:

Whitaker PRTF is an 18-bed secure psychiatric residential treatment facility operated by the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities. The facility operates 24 hours a day and provides psychiatric, nursing, psychology, social work and recreational activity services for residents which is operated by the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disorders and Substance Abuse Services. As part of the Child and Family Services Section, it provides residential care, supervision and educational services for residents with complex behavioral, emotional, psychological and neurological disorders. It also provides community liaison support services for residents and families with a staffing complement of approximately 70 full-time clinical, educational, residential and support positions. This school serves the entire state.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Management Prefers:

Experience in mental health, adolescents, and/or education of other disciplines. Experience with participation in a variety of committees, i.e. policy, PI, IC, etc. Experience with HER such as Epic. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
    A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
