Summary:

Operates as a key member of the health care team using the nursingprocess. Clinical skills and leadership to direct, provide, andevaluate age specific patient care according to the department’sscope of service.

Responsibilities:

Patients, families, and the other members of the healthcare team,as key customers, are provided with cost efficient care withexcellent clinical outcomes, provided by a team member whounderstands and respects each member of the multidiscipline teamand interacts with other team members and customers in a friendly,helpful, and courteous manner.

EDUCATION

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

EXPERIENCE

None required for beginning nurse/new graduates. Requirementsfor specialty areas are defined as 1-2 years of experience inspecialty area or related clinicalexperience.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in theState of North Carolina; BLS certification, ACLS certificationwithin one year. Additional certifications such as PALS, TNCC, andENPC encouraged but not required.

OTHER SKILLS ANDQUALIFICATIONS

Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills areessential. Communicates clearly and concisely verbally and inwriting. Exposure to and basic skills in use of clinical computersystem. Strong focus on customer service.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious diseasesrequires the use of protective equipment. Exposed to other hazardssuch as radiation, toxic waste, and chemical hazards based on thedepartment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a range of physical activity from sedentary work toheavy work. This includes sitting, standing, walking and liftingpatients and objects throughout the shift.
