Required Qualifications:
- One years’ recent experience as aLabor and Delivery RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with stateregulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- NRP (NeonatalResuscitation Program)
Certification Preferred Qualifications:
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
- STABLE and ACLSCertifications (AHA / ARC)
- Other certifications and licenses maybe required for this position
Summary:
The Labor and DeliveryRegistered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in theobstetric setting. This role encompasses assessing maternal andfetal health, administering treatments, and collaborating withhealthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered careduring labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Theposition requires strong clinical skills in obstetrics, criticalthinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment tomaintaining the highest standards of patient safety andprofessional ethics.
Essential Work Functions:
- Communicate laborand delivery procedures to patients and families, providingreassurance and addressing concerns
- Administer prescribedmedications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetricnursing techniques
- Prepare equipment and aid physician duringlabor, delivery, and examination of patients
- Provide immediatepostpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of motherand newborn
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery,breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians,anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members todeliver cohesive care
- Respond to obstetric emergencies, includingpreeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence-basedprotocols
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventionsaccurately in the medical record
- Participate in qualityimprovement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
- Assist in cesareansections and other obstetric procedures
- Comply with allregulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, andfederal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
- Perform otherduties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
Required Essential Skills:
- Critical thinking, service excellenceand good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read,write, & communicate in the English language is required
- Abilityto read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills

- Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment(50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
- Interpersonal Skills
- Towork effectively with a variety of personnel (professional andancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the generalpublic, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must beable to work under close supervision occasionally as well asworking without assistance from other personnel. Must be able tocontend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
