Travel TheRegistered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room (ER) provides criticalcare to patients in urgent or emergent conditions. The RN in the ERworks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, deliveringimmediate care to patients suffering from injuries, illnesses, ortrauma. They assess, triage, and treat patients in collaborationwith physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcareprofessionals, ensuring the best outcomes in a dynamic setting.

Perform initial assessments of patients presenting in the ER,including triaging based on the severity of their condition.

Evaluate patient history, conduct physical assessments, andidentify urgent health issues to prioritize care. Collect patientvital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) andother relevant data to determine immediate care needs.

EmergencyCare and Treatment:

Administer medications, fluids, and treatmentsas prescribed, including intravenous (IV) fluids, antibiotics, painmanagement, and other emergency medications. Perform wound care,splinting, suturing, and other interventions as needed for traumaor injury patients. Provide emergency life-saving interventions,including CPR, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and traumacare. Collaboration with

Medical Team:

Work closely withphysicians, nurse practitioners, and other team members to developand implement patient care plans. Communicate clearly andefficiently with the healthcare team, updating them on changes inpatient status and discussing care options. Document all patientassessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately in the electronichealth record (EHR). Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, andhospital standards for patient care and documentation. Offeremotional support to patients and families experiencing stress oranxiety due to medical emergencies. Advocate for patients’ needsand coordinate care with other departments to ensure timelyinterventions.

Infection Control and Safety:

Follow strictinfection control protocols, including appropriate use of personalprotective equipment (PPE) to prevent the spread of infectiousdiseases. Ensure the ER environment remains safe and sterile forboth patients and staff. Handle a wide range of patientemergencies, from minor injuries to life-threatening conditions,using critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills.

Prioritize care based on patient acuity and available resources,ensuring efficient use of ER staff and equipment. Provide dischargeinstructions and explain the next steps in care, includingmedication instructions, follow-up appointments, or referrals.

Educate patients on preventive measures and care after discharge,especially in cases of trauma or chronic conditions. Collaboratewith emergency room staff, including physicians, nurses, supportstaff, and paramedics, to ensure coordinated patient care.
