The RN will Provide direct patient care topatients using the nursing process in accordance with applicablescope and standards of practice before, during, and after cardiaccatheterization and special procedures. Primarily responsible forthe care of patients undergoing diagnostic and Interventionalcardiac catheterizations. The RN is responsible for assisting inall procedures, providing patient education, assessment andmonitoring, administering medications and participating inperformance improvement activities. Provides age specific directedcare for the adolescent, adult and geriatric individuals, i.e.,those tasks necessary for physical care and comfort, supportivetasks and teaching according to standards of care and culturaldiversity. Participates in Quality Assurance and practicesInfection control policies. Practice in accordance with state andfederal law and health care regulatory standards. Current RN licensure from the Virginia State Board of Nursing;Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of andproficiency with complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IVtherapy, moderate sedation, medication and IV solutionadministration.
