• Position Summary:

  Sovah Health in Martinsville, VA, is seeking a RN to join our CathLab

• department PRN.

The RN will Provide direct patient care topatients using the nursing process in accordance with applicablescope and standards of practice before, during, and after cardiaccatheterization and special procedures. Primarily responsible forthe care of patients undergoing diagnostic and Interventionalcardiac catheterizations. The RN is responsible for assisting inall procedures, providing patient education, assessment andmonitoring, administering medications and participating inperformance improvement activities. Provides age specific directedcare for the adolescent, adult and geriatric individuals, i.e.,those tasks necessary for physical care and comfort, supportivetasks and teaching according to standards of care and culturaldiversity. Participates in Quality Assurance and practicesInfection control policies. Participates in an on-call schedule forSTEMI interventions. Practice in accordance with state and federallaw and health care regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education Current RN licensure from the Virginia State Board of Nursing;

Desired:

Imaging, Interventional, and Therapeutic EnvironmentsCertification. Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriate action. Knowledge of and proficiency with complex invasive hemodynamicmonitoring, IV therapy, moderate sedation, medication and IVsolution administration. Ability to function under stress andemergency situations, critical thinking abilities. Effectiveorganization, prioritization, time management and problem-solvingskills. Team and goal-oriented yet able to functionindependently.

Professionalism:

Possesses excellent qualities in communication,adaptability, problem solving, attitude, and organization

Required Skills Certifications:

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) & AHA ACLS required. Full range of motion of upper and lower extremities. Moving and/orlifting patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Pushingequipment > 100 pounds. Dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.

Standing and/or walking for extensive periods of time. Workingunder stressful conditions and irregular hours. Potential forexposure to communicable disease and/or body fluid which requirethe use of body substance isolation precautions.
