Job Summary:

Provides direct nursingcare in accordance with established policies, procedures andprotocols of the healthcare organization.

Job Responsibilities andRequirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Implements and monitorspatient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patientcondition as appropriate. Serves as a primary coordinator of alldisciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Notes and carriesout physician and nursing orders. Assesses and coordinatespatient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcareteam. May round with physician in an inpatient setting. Applies theexisting body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledgein health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care isdelivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needsas described in the department’s Scope of Service. As an SSM Healthnurse, I will demonstrate the professional nursing standardsdefined in the professional practice model. Uses the ANA Code ofEthics for Nurses to guide his/her response to the current andevolving health and nursing needs of our patients and our patientpopulations. Works in a constant state of alertness and safemanner. Performs other duties as assigned.

Graduate ofaccredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constantuse of speech to share information through oral communication.

Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying andpushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent sitting,reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision anddepth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent useof smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequent use of hearing toreceive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hearalarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Occasional lifting/carryingand pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasionallifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling,squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/armmovements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running.
