Registered Nurse (RN)
- Oncology PRN Tier I (Minimum 1 shift/pay period, 1 weekend shift/month basedon staffing needs, 1 holiday/year)
Position Summary:
Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Detects change in patient status, reports to appropriate healthcare team member and utilizes resources as dictated by theacuity. Assigns priorities to the patient’s problems with highest prioritygiven to problems that are most urgent and critical. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Insures completion of requests for diagnostic work and supportservices. Counts narcotics according to policy and procedure. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia StateBoard of Nursing or a Compact State. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Oncology Nursing Certification preferred. One year Oncology Nursing experienced preferred. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursingtheory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe,delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units asrequired with leadership qualities. Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to providenursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned,considering patient age, growth and development, and diagnosis withfull implementation of the nursing process to includeAssessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning,Implementation, and Evaluation.
