RN – OR at SOVAH Health – Martinsville summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room provides directpatient care using the nursing process and adheres to professionalstandards of practice. Responsibilities include medicationadministration, monitoring patient conditions, collaborating withmultidisciplinary teams, and educating patients and families. TheRN advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being whileensuring the highest level of sterile practices during surgicalprocedures.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) – Full Time $20,000

Sign-on Bonus Eligible Position Summary:

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing processin accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Detects change in patient status, reports to appropriate healthcare team member and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity.

Assigns priorities to the patient’s problems with highest prioritygiven to problems that are most urgent and critical. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient. Exhibits high level of AORN standards. Assists and anticipates surgeon’s needs. Monitors sterile field and report break in sterile technique. Reports and documents any variances by filling out QCC reportsaccurately and completely. Performs Pre-op and Post-op counts accurately and initiatescorrective action when counts are incorrect.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be licensed in the State of Virginia or compact state as aRegistered Nurse. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.

Requirements will include successful completion of orientationchecklist, pharmacology exam, and skills/credentials/competencyrequirements of specific unit. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriate action. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursingtheory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe,delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units asrequired with leadership qualities. Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to providenursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned,considering patient age, growth and development, and diagnosis withfull implementation of the nursing process to includeAssessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning,Implementation, and Evaluation.
