Registered Nurse – Outpatient Surgery Weekdays (6a-3:30p), Weekend (1.5 hours for IV antibiotics every 8weeks), Weekday call every 5th week (3:30p-6a) •Must be able to be able to meet 1 hour call time. •$20,000
Sign-on Bonus Eligible Position Summary:
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing processin accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Detects change in patient status, reports to appropriate healthcare team member and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity.
Assigns priorities to the patient’s problems with highest prioritygiven to problems that are most urgent and critical. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Insures completion of requests for diagnostic work and supportservices. Counts narcotics according to policy and procedure. Documents and marks “surgical site verification”. Knowledge in all areas of care provided to patients in theAmbulatory Care Unit. Knowledge in all areas of care specific to the endoscopic patients,including moderate sedation. Knowledge in operating endoscopic equipment. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient.

Minimum Qualifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia StateBoard of Nursing or a Compact State. Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
Requirements will include successful completion of orientationchecklist, pharmacology exam, and skills/credentials/competencyrequirements of specific unit. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursingtheory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility andaccountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing careprovided on assigned units as required with leadershipqualities. Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to providenursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned,considering patient age, growth and development, and diagnosis withfull implementation of the nursing process to includeAssessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning,Implementation, and Evaluation.
