Department/Unit Summary 6A is a unique department with 36 physicalbeds. 24 of those beds are Telemetry beds, staffed at a 1:6 nurseto patient ratio. We see patients with complaints of chest pain,arrhythmias, post-cardiac catheterization, post-pacemaker or ICDimplants, respiratory distress, renal failure, surgical patientswith significant cardiac histories, pulmonary embolism, andvascular interventions requiring high-risk anticoagulationmanagement. The remaining 12 beds are Progressive Care, staffed ata 1:4 ratio. Those are patients post STEMI in stable condition,respiratory failure on high level oxygen, arrhythmia or bloodpressure management with IV drips, diabetic ketoacidosis,post-operative patients requiring higher level monitoring, andgeneral medical patients requiring higher level of monitoring. Theblended unit concept is unique, and creates a cohesive group ofcaregivers united behind a common goal. Qualifications:
Applicants should have a current VA (orMulti-state) RN license and possess a nursing degree from anaccredited nursing school (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Additionalrequirements include:
- American Heart Association Basic LifeSupport
- Experience in clinical area preferred
