Rowan County is made up of more than 20 departments and nearly 1,250 employees that are committed to providing a wealth of services to County residents and businesses. The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Public Health Nurse II to perform intermediate level professional nursing work in operational supervision and/or participation in a variety of departmental programs including but not limited to: supervises subordinate nursing staff and performs a variety of nursing procedures such as conducting screening tests, soliciting information, providing information and counseling, and making health care referrals relative to programs of the Department; plans supervises, and manages a clinic(s) in a specific program area; coordinates assigned program functions; assures patient follow-up, education and clinic preparation; develops patient care plans; and serves as liaison with physicians, local hospital, group homes, schools, residential facilities and/or other community programs in assigned clinic programs Requires a thorough knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health; considerable knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health; considerable knowledge of available resources and organization and the ability to coordinate these as needed; and ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgement in appraising situations and making decisions. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Degree/Coursework must be from an appropriately accredited institution. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred; and proficient personal computer skills are essential. Starting Salary $69,600 – $76,500/annual (commensurate with experience) and excellent benefits package available.
