To render professional nursing care to a group of assigned patientswithin the hospital. Collaborates with the medical staff and othermembers of the health care team to provide quality patient care.
Performs all activities in accordance with approved policies andguides. Supervises and delegates appropriate duties to ancillarypersonnel.
Essential Functions:
Completes initial and ongoing assessments. Assessments includephysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities,educational, age appropriate, cultural and discharge planningneeds. Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient. Employee supervises others. Assists with orientation and training of others asdirected.
Qualifications:
Minimum EducationAssociate’s Degree in Nursing requiredBachelor’sDegree in Nursing preferred Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgmentand the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able towork in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) requiredHandle with carewithin 4 months of hire
Licenses:
Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state(compact) license). Minimum Work Experience1-3 years preferred and recent acute careexperience within past 3 years preferred.
