Job DescriptionTo render professional nursing care to a group ofassigned patients within the hospital. Collaborates with themedical staff and other members of the health care team to providequality patient care. Performs all activities in accordance withapproved policies and guides. Supervises and delegates appropriateduties to ancillary personnel.
Essential Functions:
Completes initialand ongoing assessments. Assessments include physical,psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, ageappropriate, cultural and discharge planning needs. Performs planof care intervention, including medication administration, specimencollection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical caretreatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, andcommunicates patient condition as appropriate to care team,physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performingactivities of daily living, including personal hygiene,elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates as neededacross disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patienttransfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial supportneeds. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family andprovides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture,condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physicaland emotional well-being of the patient. Employee supervisesothers. Assists with orientation and training of others asdirected.
Minimum EducationAssociate’s Degree in NursingrequiredBachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred RequiredSkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) requiredHandle with carewithin 3 months of hire
Licenses:
Current RN license to practice inNC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license). Minimum WorkExperience1-3 years preferred and recent acute care experiencewithin past 3 years preferred
