Essential Functions:
  • Communicates with multidisciplinary team members by sharingpertinent patient data and needs. Provides accurate and timelyhandoff communications. Keeps patients and their families informedabout their care.
  • Establishes individualized nursing diagnosisbased on assessment data and formulates care plan. Collaborateswith patient and family members to address care needs and providepatient centered care. Adjusts plan of care appropriately.
  • Patient/family care needs and/or problems are promptly identifiedand addressed.

Patients are regularly assessed and reassessed.

Patient responses to nursing and MD interventions and treatmentsare evaluated and documented in the ongoing assessment data.

  • Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, initiates dischargeplanning to meet the discharge care needs of each individualpatient.
  • Provides patient and family education in regard to thehospitalization/admission, medications, and/or in preparation fordischarge. Upon discharge, provides appropriate dischargeinstructions to include follow-up and referral needs.
  • Uses safemedication practices (Read Back, double checks) and documentsoutcomes such as patient response to new medication, side effectsand adverse reactions. Completes medication reconciliation uponadmission, transfer and discharge.
  • Demonstrates ability to:
  • Carefor patient with Mag sulfate for preeclampsia/preterm labor.
  • Carefor patient with Pitocin Induction/augmentation.
  • Care for thepatient with a fetal demise.
  • Care for the patient during labor anddelivery.
  • Care for a post-operative cesarean section.
  • Care of apost-operative gynecology patientcare of a post-operative pediatricpatient.
  • Care for the infant requiring oxygen.care for the infantwith IV/Antibiotics.
  • Care for the infant requiring phototherapy.
  • Evaluate non stress test.
  • Assist physician with intrauterinepressure catheter insertion.
  • Assist with and care for the infantwith circumcision.
  • Care for the preterm infant.
  • Perform car seattest.
  • Initiates and maintains amnio infusion.
  • Demonstratesplacement of NG tube/NG feeding.
  • Assists with orientation andtraining of others as directed.
  • Employee supervises others.
MinimumEducation:
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing Required
  • Bachelor’sDegree in
Nursing Preferred Required Skills:
  • Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressfulenvironment and take appropriate action.

Required Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Handle With Care
  • PALS
  • ACLS
  • NRP-Advanced
  • Fetal monitoring
STABLE Licenses:
  • Current RN license topractice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
Minimum Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years preferred and recent acute careexperience within past 3 years preferred.
