To render care to patients who are critically ill, injured or haveundergone invasive/complex surgery and require a higher level ofcare which may include frequent monitoring of vital signs, cardiacstatus and changes in patient conditions; the use of lifesupporting systems and/or specialized medications specific to ICU.Collaborates with medical staff and other disciplines to providequality care while performing in accordance with approved policiesand within scope of practice. Supervises and delegates duties toother personnel as indicated.
Essential Functions:
Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient. Arrhythmia recognition Participation in Code Blue situations and/or leading the eventuntil physician arrives. Knowledge various drips. Ventilator management. Defibrillation/Cardioversion
