Essential Functions:
Uses nursing skills to evaluate patient careneeds, prioritize treatment, and maintain patient flow. Conducts anursing assessment by taking a patient history and physicalassessment and by obtaining vital signs and other medical tests.
Provides treatment within scope of practice as defined by statelaw. Collaborates with Physician or other Licensed IndependentPractitioner to arrange for further medical treatment, when needed.
Identifies equipment that needs repair and brings it to theattention of the lead clinician. Performs occupational and healthscreening tests as defined in site contract (EKG, audiometry,spirometry, vision). Conducts appropriate laboratory tests andquality control procedures. Documents accurately all elements ofnursing assessment, treatments, medications administered, dischargeinstructions provided, and follow up care arranged. Evaluateshealth education/promotion needs of patients and provides necessarytraining and instruction. Identifies emergency situations andprovides care within legal scope of practice. Administersmedications and medical treatments competently as directed by aPhysician or Licensed Independent Practitioner. Maintains medicalrecords using (In some health centers it may be using ElectronicMedical Record software). Maintains a clean and safe environment.
Follows infection control procedures. Maintains patient privacy andconfidential patient information. Participates in follow up phonecalls and follow up patient visits. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Certificate from an accredited Nursing School orAssociates degree (A.S.) is required. Bachelor’s degree (BSN) fromfour-year college or university is preferred. Currently licensedRegistered Nurse in state of practice required Current hands ontraining in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for health care providersis required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be requiredbased on contract scope of services. Certification in OccupationalHealth Nursing, Certification in Emergency Nursing, or Certificatein Case Management preferred.
Preferred Experience:
At least three years experience as aRegistered Nurse in an emergency room, occupational health clinicor other ambulatory care clinic. Knowledge of Internet software,Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Knowledge andexperience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
