Nurse/n Job Summary:

The ER Nurse is a critical member of the healthcareteam responsible for providing high-quality, urgent medical care topatients in the emergency department (ED). They assess, monitor,and treat patients with acute medical conditions and injuries,ensuring prompt and effective care in a fast-paced andhigh-pressure environment. The ER Nurse works closely with doctors,specialists, and other healthcare staff to deliver patient-centeredcare while maintaining safety, efficiency, and compassion. /n

KeyResponsibilities:

Patient Assessment:

/n /n

  • Triagepatients based on the severity of their condition and prioritizecare accordingly. /n
  • Perform thorough physical assessments andobtain detailed medical histories from patients. /n
  • Monitor vitalsigns, laboratory results, and patient status, identifying changesand responding appropriately.

Emergency Care andTreatment:

/n /n

  • Administer prescribed medications, treatments,and interventions as directed by the physician. /n
  • Provide woundcare, assist with procedures, and manage trauma or critical carepatients. /n
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, orother procedures as required. /n
  • Ensure proper documentation ofall treatments, medications, and patient interactions in theelectronic medical record (EMR).

Collaboration andCommunication:

/n /n

  • Work in collaboration with physicians, nursepractitioners, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals toprovide coordinated care. /n
  • Effectively communicate withpatients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, andexpected outcomes. /n
  • Assist with educating patients on follow-upcare, preventive measures, and any necessary lifestyle adjustments.

Crisis Management:

/n /n

  • Respond to medicalemergencies quickly and effectively, providing advanced lifesupport (ALS) when needed. /n
  • Take swift action in the event ofcardiac arrest, trauma, or other urgent health conditions. /n
  • Manage life-threatening situations with a calm demeanor, ensuringthe safety and stability of patients.

PatientAdvocacy and Support:

/n /n

  • Advocate for patients by ensuringthey receive timely and appropriate care. /n
  • Provide emotionalsupport to patients and families during stressful situations. /n
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance withHIPAA regulations.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to all hospital and department policies, protocols, andstandards of care. /n
  • Ensure that all equipment is properlysterilized and maintained. /n
  • Follow infection control guidelinesto reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections.

Education and Professional Development:

/n /n

  • Stay updated withthe latest trends, guidelines, and best practices in emergencynursing care. /n
  • Participate in continuing education programs,workshops, and other training to maintain certifications and expandclinical knowledge. /n
  • Mentor and guide new nurses and studentswithin the department.

Qualifications:

/n /n

  • Education:

    /n /n

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. /n /n /n
  • Licensure:

    /n/n

  • Current state RN license in good standing. /n
  • Certificationin Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular LifeSupport (ACLS) required. /n
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) andPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred. /n/n /n
  • Skills:

    /n /n

  • Strong clinical assessment and criticalthinking skills. /n
  • Ability to remain calm and focused inhigh-stress situations. /n
  • Proficient in using medical equipment,including monitors, defibrillators, and IV pumps. /n
  • Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills to work effectively withpatients, families, and team members.
