Required Qualifications:

One year of recent experience as anOncology RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulationsCurrent BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications:

Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification ACLS (AHA/ARC)certification Other certifications and licenses may be required forthis position

Summary:

The Oncology Registered Nurse providesspecialized nursing care to cancer patients in hospital andclinical settings. This role involves administering cancertreatments, managing side effects, and providing education andemotional support to patients and families. The RN collaborateswith multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality,patient-centered care while adhering to professional standards ofconfidentiality, integrity, and safety.

Essential Work Functions:

Educate patients and families about oncology procedures andtreatments, addressing concerns and fostering understanding toalleviate apprehension Administers prescribed medications andtreatments in accordance with approved oncology nursing techniquesPrepares and maintains oncology-specific equipment assistingoncologists during treatment and examinations Monitor and addressoncology patients’ comfort, safety, and side effects, implementinginterventions to enhance quality of life Assesses and monitorspatients, recording conditions and reactions identifying changesand documenting conditions and responses Maintain detailed andaccurate documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, andpatient outcomes in the medical records Responds to life savingsituations based upon oncology nursing standards, policies,procedures and protocol Develop and implement individualizededucation plans for cancer patients and families, addressingtreatment regimens, side effect management, and self-carestrategies Participate in oncology quality improvement initiativesto enhance patient outcomes and care delivery Advocate for oncologypatients and support them in navigating complex treatment plansPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines,and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

• Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
