Nurse Job Summary :
The ER Nurse is a critical member of the healthcareteam responsible for providing high-quality, urgent medical care topatients in the emergency department (ED). They assess, monitor,and treat patients with acute medical conditions and injuries,ensuring prompt and effective care in a fast-paced andhigh-pressure environment. The ER Nurse works closely with doctors,specialists, and other healthcare staff to deliver patient-centeredcare while maintaining safety, efficiency, and compassion. Triage patients based on the severity of their condition andprioritize care accordingly. Perform thorough physical assessments and obtain detailed medicalhistories from patients.
Emergency Care and Treatment :
Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and interventions asdirected by the physician. Provide wound care, assist with procedures, and manage trauma orcritical care patients. Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, or otherprocedures as required. Ensure proper documentation of all treatments, medications, andpatient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR). Work in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners,paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to providecoordinated care. Assist with educating patients on follow-up care, preventivemeasures, and any necessary lifestyle adjustments. Respond to medical emergencies quickly and effectively, providingadvanced life support (ALS) when needed. Take swift action in the event of cardiac arrest, trauma, or otherurgent health conditions. Advocate for patients by ensuring they receive timely andappropriate care. Adhere to all hospital and department policies, protocols, andstandards of care. Ensure that all equipment is properly sterilized andmaintained. Follow infection control guidelines to reduce the risk ofhospital-acquired infections. Stay updated with the latest trends, guidelines, and best practicesin emergency nursing care. Participate in continuing education programs, workshops, and othertraining to maintain certifications and expand clinicalknowledge. Mentor and guide new nurses and students within the department. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree inNursing (ADN) required. Current state RN license in good standing. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support(PALS) certifications preferred. Proficient in using medical equipment, including monitors,defibrillators, and IV pumps. Work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with potentialexposure to infectious diseases, trauma, and other healthhazards. Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, andholidays.
