Job Summary :

An Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care topatients diagnosed with cancer, working closely with oncologyteams, including oncologists, radiation therapists, and otherhealthcare professionals. The RN focuses on deliveringcomprehensive care, administering treatments, managing symptoms,and providing emotional support to cancer patients and theirfamilies throughout the cancer care continuum.

Key Responsibilities :

Assess, plan, and provide individualized nursing care to oncologypatients undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or othercancer treatments. Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other cancer-relatedmedications in accordance with established protocols. Monitor patients for treatment-related side effects, such asnausea, fatigue, pain, or infection, and provide supportivecare. Collaborate with multidisciplinary oncology teams to develop andimplement care plans tailored to the patient’s specific needs. Educate patients and families on cancer diagnosis, treatmentoptions, and self-care practices to improve outcomes. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and theirfamilies, addressing the psychological impact of a cancerdiagnosis. Assist in managing cancer-related symptoms such as pain, nausea,fatigue, and emotional distress. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care,treatment plans, and progress. Administer supportive therapies, such as blood transfusions, painmanagement, and other interventions. Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring access to necessaryresources, treatments, and support services. Participate in oncology-specific education, training, andcontinuing professional development to stay current on cancer careadvancements. Monitor lab results, vital signs, and other diagnostic tests toassess the patient’s response to treatment. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including handling andadministering chemotherapy safely.

Qualifications :

Education :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.

Licensure :

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

Certification :

Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.•

Experience :
