Job Description
Position Overview:
The Triage Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care by conducting clinical assessments both virtually and in person. This role uses evidence-based protocols, sound clinical judgment, and strong communication skills to evaluate symptoms, guide patients on appropriate care steps, and escalate complex cases to providers. In addition to telephone triage, the RN maintains hands-on clinical skills with on-site responsibilities such as fetal heart-tone checks, blood pressure readings, NSTs, and other nurse visits. The Triage RN also actively contributes to quality-improvement efforts and ongoing clinical training. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. The hiring range starts from $30.00 per hour .

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct telephone and in-person clinical assessments using evidence-based protocols Accurately triage patient symptoms and determine appropriate next steps or escalation Provide patient education, symptom guidance, and clinical follow-up as needed Perform on-site clinical procedures such as fetal heart tone checks, NSTs, and nurse visits Document patient interactions in the electronic medical record system Collaborate with providers and team members to ensure safe, timely, and appropriate care Maintain compliance with the NC Nurse Practice Act and ethical standards Participate in training, team meetings, and quality-improvement initiatives
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Experience:
At least 2 years of nursing experience, preferably with proficiency in triage and patient assessment Prior experience in emergency medicine, outpatient, or primary care setting is strongly preferred
Required Registration/License/Certification:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the
American Heart Association Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
In-depth understanding of triage nursing practices and protocols Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills Strong communication and patient-interaction abilities Comfort using electronic health records and clinical documentation systems Knowledge of common illnesses, treatments, and medical terminology Empathy and compassion in delivering patient-centered care
Physical Demands:
Mobility to move freely throughout the clinic Manual dexterity for handling instruments and typing Clear vision and hearing for clinical assessments and communication Ability to lift/move equipment and assist patients as needed
