FacilityWilson Medical Center The Lung Nurse Navigator serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing advocacy, education, and counseling to oncology patients and their families throughout their cancer care journey. This role is designed to assist patients, families, and caregivers by addressing barriers within the healthcare system, ensuring timely access to high-quality hematology/oncology care, and providing psychosocial support from pre-diagnosis through all phases of the cancer experience. The Lung Nurse Navigator will work closely with the Wilson Medical Group providers and other community partners to deliver comprehensive care. The role reports to the Oncology Service Line Director
EDUCATION
Required:
Associate’s degree in nursing or equivalent from an accredited two-year college.
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2-3 years of recent clinical experience in oncology nursing.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Current Nursing License
BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
Preferred:
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).
KEY ATTRIBUTES & COMPETENCIES
Strong knowledge of oncology and the ability to educate patients, families, and staff.
Ability to navigate complex healthcare systems and identify resources for patients and caregivers.
Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
Ability to assess patient needs and provide comprehensive care plans.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
