Cobb HospitalOverviewThe RN Clinical Nurse is aproactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed andunlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families andsignificant others receive individualized high quality, safepatient care. They practice in a clinical environment that isadministered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supportedthrough the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework forpractice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model andevidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derivedfrom these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. It isexpected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeableand uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the GeorgiaProfessional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope ofPractice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the AmericanNurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it isexpected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient,system policies and procedures while supporting service excellencegoals.
ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilites and Essential FunctionsExemplary Practice and OutcomesA.Performs the Nursing Process(assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning;implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical careusing evidence base practice, uses analytical/critical thinking andensuring that care is individualized; coordinating care througheffective partnerships recognizing that caring is central toachieve optimal patient care outcomesB.Provides relationship-basedpatient centered care that is consistent with population specificcharacteristics (e.g. age, gender, disease, etc) in a manner thatadapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of culturaldiversityC.Always partners with the patient and significant others(as appropriate) using such appropriate method for setting andpurpose (e.g., bedside shift report; interdisciplinary rounds; justin time and planned patient teaching; keeping the patient andsignificant others updated and making the patient’s goals the focusof the plan of care.

Teamwork and CollaborationA.Coordinates the delivery anddocumentation of safe quality patient care that promotes theprofessional care delivery model.
