Summary :

The RN Clinical Nurseprovides patient-centered, specialized, evidence-based nursing careacross the continuum through an interprofessional approach totreatment, research, education, and advocacy. Contributes to thegoals of the department by being accountable for the delivery ofcompassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as definedby the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and ThedaCare policy. Throughcollaborative practice with members of the care team, isresponsible for patient outcomes that meet the high quality of careprovided by ThedaCare. Furthers the professional practice ofnursing at ThedaCare by promoting a culture of innovation and acommitment to growth and professional development.

JobDescription:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Utilizes the nursing process,evidence-based practice, and specific competencies to assess thephysical condition and nursing needs of patients, and develops aplan of care in a collaborative practice with the patient andinterprofessional team.2. Plans for the care needs of the patientin collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide thehighest quality of care and clinical outcomes.3. Demonstratesclinical expertise in the provision of care in the clinicalspecialty assigned, and performs all functions of the professionalclinical nurse (RN), which are age appropriate, developmentallysensitive, and culturally specific.4. Identifies ways to improvethe patients experience of care, streamline care processes, andlower costs while promoting quality to improve patient, family, andteam member satisfaction.5. Contributes to a professionalenvironment that encourages mentoring, engagement, and developmentto retain expert clinicians.6. Provides consultation and maintainspositive relationships with physicians and other interprofessionalteam members, collaborating to problem solve and improve patientcare.7. Demonstrates, anticipates, and proactively manages risk toprevent crises. 8. Performs skillfully in life threateningemergencies, matching demands and resources during crisessituations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current Wisconsin RN LicensureBachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commitment to obtainwithin five years. Associate’s Degree in Nursing accepted in lieuof BSN for those hired prior to 1/23/17.ALL 2500

RNs with greater than 1year ED experience must complete Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)within 12 months of hire and maintain every 4 yearsthereafter.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to move freely (standing,stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to amaximum of Fifty (50) pounds without assistance Job classificationis exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) whileperforming job duties Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination toperform patient care procedures

WORK ENVIRONMENT
