Dialysis Acute Care Registered Nurse The Inpatient RN provides direct patient care in accordance withcompany policies and procedures which includes Client complianceprograms and contracted hospitals’ policies and procedures. Areasof practice are diverse, including, but not limited to,hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacementtherapies, apheresis, and ultrafiltration. The Inpatient RN willpartner with the hospital to provide quality care to the patientand deliver care that provides a positive patient experience. Under limited supervision, applies considerable knowledge toperform a broad range of tasks which include but are not limited todirect patient care in multiple modalities not limited tohemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, ultrafiltration, continuousrenal replacement therapy, and Apheresis. Provides supervision and direction of Patient Care Technicians andclerical staff; provides direction and education to ICU staff forCRRT. Responsible for direct patient care of assigned patients in theInpatient Renal Replacement and Apheresis Services setting andproviding the appropriate treatment technique for assigned patientsas prescribed in all modality procedures, as appropriately defined- hemodialysis, peritoneal, continuous renal replacement therapies,ultrafiltration, and Apheresis. Assesses patients’ responses to treatment therapy makingappropriate adjustments and modifications to the treatment plan asindicated by the appropriately credentialed physician. Communicateproblems or concerns to the Inpatient Program Manager,appropriately credentialed physician, patient hospital primarynurse and others as indicated. Delivers safe, effective care in a timely an efficient manner. Gives organized, concise shift reports for patients on assignedshifts. Apply high level thinking skills to shift patient schedulesto meet needs of more critical patients due to labs, MD order, orpatient assessment. Responsible for the implementation, administration, monitoring, anddocumentation of patient’s response to prescribed intradialytictransfusions, including appropriate notification of adversereactions to physician and appropriate blood supplier. Collaborates and communicates with physicians and other members ofthe healthcare team to interpret, adjust, and coordinate dailypatient care plan to ensure continuity of care. Initiates and communicates to FMS facility nursing staff andappropriate hospital personnel as needed. Accurately documents all treatment information in the individualpatient record (ACES) and the hospital record, as needed. Cleans and disinfects dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment,and surrounding areas between treatments according to inpatientrenal services policies and procedures. Conducts all tasks necessary for preparation for dialysis treatmentand documents where appropriate. Performs all required pre-treatment dialysis machine alarmtesting. Operates all related equipment appropriately and safely andprovides minor trouble shooting when necessary; Understands,conducts, and documents appropriately Dialysis/Apheresis machinesafety tests/alarm tests, equipment calibration, dialysate testing,machine safety tests, functional testing, and internal and externaldisinfection on all water & dialysis machines, and complies withthe documentation/notification standards per FMS policies. Completes and documents ongoing participation in QAIactivities. Participates in staff meetings as scheduled. Participates in staff training and orientation as assigned. Acts as a subject matter expert to hospital staff for dialysisrelated patient/equipment complications. Responsible for reporting all new or unusual incidents,information, complaints, or problems to the inpatient manager andother parties per the Adverse Event Report requirements. May beassigned to in-center patient care on an as needed basis Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and allapplicable company policies and procedures, local, state andfederal laws and regulations. Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor. Direct patient care, interaction with patients, outpatientclinicians, hospital staff, and physicians. The position requirestravel between assigned hospitals and facilities; as well as travelto regional meetings/educational events. Position requires on call rotation including night, day, weekend,and holidays. There is potential for exposure to potentially infectious materialand contagious diseases/material. Position provides direct patient care which regularly involvesheavy lifting, moving of patient and/or equipment ? 200lbs (withassistance); and may lift chemical and water solutions of up to30lbs up as high as 5 feet.

SUPERVISION

Provides supervision and direction of Patient Care Technicians(Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technicians (CCHT)) and clericalstaff; provides direction and education to ICU staff for CRRT. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Maintains acquired knowledge and remains current in advancements innephrology, in particular, relative to inpatient care (hospitalizedpatients requiring varied treatment modalities, not limited toRenal Replacement, Apheresis, and Ultrafiltration services). Certification in Nephrology Nursing, Apheresis Nursing, or both ishighly encouraged. Two years Nephrology Nursing experience required in the last twoyears as a RN. Minimum 2 years inpatient dialysis nursing experience required.

Shift details:

Shifts will be discussed in detail during theinterview; the role requires a commitment of 40 hours plus overtimeand floating to area sites as need be. Late to shift Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week(subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to bedetermined.
