About the

Collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager andTrauma Medical Director to improve the quality of trauma careencompassing all areas and disciplines of the hospital thatparticipate in the management of the injured patient. Facilitatesthe trauma performance improvement program including datacollection, analysis, and benchmarking of data and qualityoutcomes. Assists with the identification, validation, anddocumentation of trauma specific performance improvement variances,complications, and quality filters as required by the AmericanCollege of Surgeons (ACS).

  • Assesses individualpatient care and staff development needs through daily rounds andcommunication with nursing staff and other health team members.
  • Assists and provides direction to nursing staff with clinicaldecision making and priority setting.
  • Assumes a leadership roleand collaborates with colleagues in nursing leadership and otherhealth team members in responding to clinical events/practiceissues within the health system.
  • Assures that standards of careare being practiced in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Atthe discretion of the Trauma Program Manager, the PI coordinatorassists in reviewing, and recommending changes in departmental andorganizational policies.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadershipteams to fully engage staff in initiatives designed to improveoutcomes for trauma patients.
  • Collaborates with Nurse Educatorsto provide trauma specific education to front line staff
  • Providesspecialized expertise to members of the health care team to solvecomplex situations involving patients, staff, or systems.
  • Participates in new product evaluation; recommends and evaluatesnew products designed to improve patient outcomes.
  • Reviews traumapatient charts including daily identification of trauma patients,concurrent and retrospective chart review. Monitors compliance withpractice management guidelines.
  • Assists trauma registrar(s) intrauma registry maintenance and data abstraction.
  • Assists withinjury prevention and outreach initiatives as directed by theTrauma Program Manager.
  • Attends, coordinates, and contributes totrauma multidisciplinary operational and peer review committeemeetings.
  • Initiates secondary reviews with Trauma MedicalDirector and Trauma Program Manager. Tracks and oversees completionof review process and loop closure.
  • Collaborates and communicateswith Trauma liaisons including Orthopedic surgery, Neurosurgery,Radiology/Interventional Radiology, Critical Care, EmergencyMedicine, and other Physician specialties as assigned. Who You Are
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.

BSN required.

Master’s degree preferred.

  • Registered Nurse license issued by theState of New Hampshire.
ACLS/BLS

required. Required within 2 yearsof hire: TNCC or ATCN certification, PALS, and TCAR. CertifiedEmergency Nursing (CEN), Critical Care Nursing (CCRN), and/orTrauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) preferred.

  • A minimum offive (5) years nursing experience in a trauma critical care unit ortrauma emergency department required. Experience in a Level 1 orLevel 2 Trauma Center preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of allphases of trauma care to include pre-hospital, resuscitation,stabilization, critical care, convalescent care, and rehabilitationand organ/tissue inquiry.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonalskills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally andin writing with community members, patients, families, hospitalstaff and management. Intermediate skill in Microsoft officerequired.
  • Demonstrates effective time management and organizationskills.
