The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a care team, possessing a strong understanding of the nursing process. The patient is a 3-year-old girl with an Epileptic condition that causes seizures and major cognitive delay. Although this position requires the LPN or RN to be able to handle a medical epileptic emergency, this role will mainly be there just in case. She averages 1 seizure in 24 hours. The child sleeps through the night and will not require major “medical” attention under normal circumstances. There may be some medication administration in the form of a crushed pill in her milk bottle. The family is looking for a caring nurse who is trustworthy and responsible to help care for their daughter while they can get some “rest”. This position will be nights/overnight and can be flexible with the exact hours and days worked per week.
Responsibilities:
Provide skilled nursing care to the patient, including medication administration, general care, and patient monitoring. Document the patient’s care back to parents for Neurological reporting (self-created system) Communicate with the patient’s healthcare team, including the physician, nurse practitioner, and case manager as needed. Provide emotional support and comfort to the patient.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Licensure as an LPN or RN in NH 1-2 years of experience in private-duty nursing Strong understanding of the nursing process Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to work flexible hours, including nights Responsible, trustworthy, and reliable
