Thestaff registered nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiverwho assumes responsibility and accountability for planning,delegating, and coordinating the nursing care of a group ofpatients during a designated time frame utilizing the John MuirMedical Center Standards of Care, ANA’s Standards of Practice andProfessional Performance, and the California Nurse Practice Act,Title 22, and Title 16. The RN coordinates and provides carethrough the therapeutic use of self, nursing process, and theenvironment and technology, in partnership and collaboration withinterdisciplinary team members.

Accredited School of Nursing RequiredExperience:

• Nursing
• Acute Care 2000 hours direct bedside care in a step-down or intermediatecare unit as a Registered Nurse in the last 3 years
• CoreRequirement. Minimum 1000 hours of experience in a Registered Nurse role inan acute care facility with medical and cardiac patients within thelast 24 months

Core:

Demonstrates competency in caring for pre-and post-cardio-thoracic surgery, esophageal surgery, and cardiovascularinterventional procedural patients. Able to provide competent care for patients requiringcardioversion, thoracentesis, temporary pacing, and moderatesedation. Demonstrates competency in the management of IV medicated dripsrequiring minimal titration, including select vasoactive andantiarrhythmic agents Demonstrates competency in the management of stable DKApatients. Demonstrates a basic understanding of the application or use ofcardiac pharmacology, vasoactive therapy, temporary and permanentpacemakers and emergency interventions within 12 months. Maintains on-going competency requirements for strokecare. Must meet core qualifications within 24 months.
