TravelThe Registered Nurse (RN) in theMed-Surg unit is responsible for providing direct patient care in afast-paced environment, assisting with the recovery of patients whorequire medical and surgical interventions. The RN will workcollaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality,compassionate care to patients across a variety of diagnoses andprocedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and well-being duringtheir hospital stay.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical,emotional, and psychological needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plansbased on patient assessment and physician orders.
Patient Care:
Administer medications, treatments, and interventions asprescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to medicalprotocols. Monitor patient vital signs, lab results, and clinicalprogress, making necessary adjustments to care plans. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), includingmobility, hygiene, and nutrition. Provide pre- and post-operative care and educate patients onprocedures, medication, and recovery plans.
Collaboration:
Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and otherhealthcare providers to coordinate care and ensure positive patientoutcomes. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and thehealthcare team regarding the plan of care and any changes incondition.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and their families about their conditions,treatment options, and discharge plans. Provide instructions on medication management, lifestylechanges, and follow-up care.
Documentation:
Accurately document patient assessments, interventions,progress, and outcomes in the medical record. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, standards, andregulatory requirements.
Safety & Infection Control:
Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to preventhospital-acquired infections and ensure a safeenvironment. Respond quickly to changes in patient conditions, such asemergencies or complications. Supervision & Mentorship (if applicable): Assist in mentoring new staff or nursing students and provideguidance as needed. Serve as a resource for junior nursing staff in clinicaldecision-making.
