Job Description

Summary The Palliative Care & Hospice Program Director is accountable for the development, management and direct oversight of both the Palliative Medicine and Hospice services at Shore Medical Center. Serves as the principle liaison between Shore Medical Center and the Cancer Center and outpatient Hospice vendors. Performs supervisory and clinical functions in support of Palliative Medicine and Hospice services enhancement.

Responsibilities :
  • Serves as Palliative Medicine clinician performing consults as requested by physician staff.
  • Facilitates department serving as a clinical and educational resource to others.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates Palliative Care and Hospice programs.
  • Develops and implements a Palliative Care and Hospice marketing plan in collaboration with the Community Relations Department.
  • Oversees activities associated with the relationship with the Shore Cancer Center.
  • Works collaboratively with Shore Cancer Center in developing community education and outreach activities, including advanced directive screening, POLST education and other relevant events.
  • Directs the educational activities of the Palliative Care and Hospice Programs to meet regulatory requirements, competency requirements, and personal/professional growth needs of staff.
  • Collaborates with the nursing management team to determine palliative and hospice related nursing education and training needs/priorities using a variety of methods based on adult learning principles and appropriate content.
  • Presents informational session on Hospice and Palliative Care program for new nurses as a part of new employee orientation.
  • Facilitates annual palliative and hospice education
Qualifications:
  • Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of N.J.
  • CHPN (Certified Hospice & Palliative Nurse)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • 5 years of Palliative Care experience
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a group leader and participant, and has the ability to collaborate with multiple members of the healthcare administrative team
  • Organization/ priority setting
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Budget/planning experience
  • Regulatory requirements governing hospitals/ healthcare
  • Experience in educating
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop employees
  • Strong supervisory ability to lead and communicate organizational goals Salary Range – $125,000 – $140,000 annually Additional information
