RequiredQualifications:

One years’ recent experience as a Labor andDelivery RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulationsCurrent BLS certification (AHA/ARC) NRP (Neonatal ResuscitationProgram)

Certification Preferred Qualifications:

AWHONN FetalMonitoring Certification STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC)Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position

Summary:

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse providescomprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting. This roleencompasses assessing maternal and fetal health, administeringtreatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensurehigh-quality, patient-centered care during labor, delivery, and theimmediate postpartum period. The position requires strong clinicalskills in obstetrics, critical thinking abilities, excellentcommunication, and a commitment to maintaining the higheststandards of patient safety and professional ethics.

Essential WorkFunctions:

Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patientsand families, providing reassurance and addressing concernsAdminister prescribed medications and treatments in accordance withapproved obstetric nursing techniques Prepare equipment and aidphysician during labor, delivery, and examination of patientsProvide immediate postpartum care, including assessment andstabilization of mother and newborn Educate patients and familieson postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care Collaboratewith obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and otherteam members to deliver cohesive care Respond to obstetricemergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress,using evidence-based protocols Document patient care, assessments,and interventions accurately in the medical record Participate inquality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonataloutcomes Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results Assist incesarean sections and other obstetric procedures Comply with allregulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, andfederal guidelines for obstetric nursing care Perform other dutiesas assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing

RequiredEssential Skills:

Critical thinking, service excellence and goodinterpersonal communication skills The ability to read, write, &communicate in the English language is required Ability toread/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions,and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities

• Remain in astationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs),pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal Skills
