This position reports to the Senior Director of Nursing. Essential responsibilities Include but are not limited to the following: Review schedule and direct patients to appropriate office location (shot room, testing, physician treatment room) Take patient vital signs, as directed Perform spirometries and/or Niox testing, as directed Apply skin prick testing and read test results, as directed Apply intradermal testing and read test results, as directed Apply advanced testing (i.e., Penicillin, Venom) at physician’s discretion Review treatment log and administer allergy immunotherapy, as directed Administer biologic treatments, as directed Review and implement anaphylaxis protocol, as needed Other Clinical Duties Prepare serum trays, syringes, gauze, and alcohol for allergy shot rooms Prepare rooms and testing trays daily Refill testing trays, as needed Prepare allergy immunotherapy treatment vials, as needed Check all emergency allergy equipment and restock as needed (i.e., emergency kit, oxygen tank, AED, Banyan kit) on a monthly basis Maintain post-injection resting rooms; restock patient information brochures, etc. Respond to patient telephone inquires, as directed Complete assigned tasks in EHR Check and record refrigerator temperature on a daily basis Administrative/ Office Tasks Read and respond to emails twice daily at minimum Review status of supplies and order as needed: Allergy Serums Medical supplies- testing devices, syringes, spirometry mouthpieces, etc. Educational allergy information Restock rooms, as needed: Sample medication closets Medical supplies- Comforten, gloves, syringes, etc. Send out consultation letters to referring physicians Check fax folder through out the day Scan and file into ICS Initiate prescription refill requests, as directed Management responsibilities Train and monitor staff on administrative items such as: Order and recall reports Prior Authorizations GHI1199 Task boxes Fax folders Provide support when physicians request assistance with staff issues or training Interview candidates for open nursing positions when the Regional Senior Nurse is unavailable. Oversee staffing nursing schedules, including creating schedules as needed Monitor and approve staff nurse and agency staff nurse timecards Implement and communicate all allergy nursing policies and procedures Function as the liaison with the Central Mixing Facility Cover Saturdays as needed Assist new nurses who have been signed off on clinical skills by an RN Provide monthly updates of office Provide weekly updates of all trainees Personal Attributes Licensed Practical or Professional Registered Nurse Positive attitude is a must Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong supervisory skills Can handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously; able to prioritize duties Anticipate need for information Requirements include: LPN or RN 3+ years of Allergy experience preferred Excellent customer service skills Excellent verbal communication Ability to work under pressure Must possesses excellent time management skills including; Organization, Multitasking, Prioritization, and Resourcefulness. Must be willing to travel to any of our clinical sites with reliable transportation.
