In this critical role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both the mother and newborn. Your expertise will be essential in managing the labor process, monitoring the health of both mother and child, and providing education and support throughout the birthing experience. Duties Monitor patients during labor, assessing vital signs and fetal heart rates. Administer medications and injections as prescribed. Assist with delivery procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding the labor process. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans. Perform diagnostic evaluations as needed to assess maternal and fetal health. Document patient care accurately in medical records. Participate in case management to coordinate care before, during, and after delivery. Stay current with best practices in labor and delivery nursing. Requirements Current nursing license (RN) in good standing. Experience in labor and delivery nursing is preferred. Strong knowledge of anatomy related to childbirth. Familiarity with MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments is a plus. Ability to perform spinal taps when necessary. Experience with administering injections safely and effectively. Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation processes related to maternal-fetal health. Skills in case management for comprehensive patient care coordination. Proficiency in aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective patient interaction.
