What You’ll Do:
This part-time position is a trained professional who assists students in attaining and maintaining optimum health, promotes positive health habits, and guides the entire community in a range of healthy attitudes.
Our School Nurse will:
Provide compassionate, responsive healthcare to students throughout the school day. Engagingly teach kids and staff about health and wellness in both individual and group settings, in and out of the classroom. Take on a meaningful teaching load and school duties while remaining accessible to students. Utilize organizational skills and a proactive approach to manage student health records and collaborate effectively with the Registrar on required medical paperwork. Apply a detail-oriented approach to monitor immunizations, track communicable diseases, and work to ensure a safe and injury-free school environment. Lead infection control efforts and stays current on best practices for keeping the community healthy. Play an active role in school health & safety plans, including those addressing emergencies, bullying, and school violence. In the context of close communication with parents and caregivers, oversee medication administration, health procedures, and the development of student healthcare plans. Make informed decisions about delegating healthcare tasks in alignment with state laws and professional standards.
What You Bring:
You are someone who: Has 3-5 years (or more) of experience working with PK-8th grade-aged children and a deep respect for their capabilities (experience in a Quaker school a plus) Has a Registered Nurse degree Loves and respects children and believes that faculty and families should work together in support of them Brings creativity, patience, and a sense of joy to your work Is able to work independently, and equally values and seeks out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal A customer service-oriented approach to working with families Has the organizational skills needed to manage both supporting students and administrative responsibilities Is eager to build relationships across differences and support an inclusive, anti-bias learning environment Physical requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office and medical equipment, reach with hands and arms, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
