Job Description
Category Schools – RN Nurse Job Type Contract A healthcare professional with experience in school nursing is needed for a full-time position supporting an 8th-grade student with specialized medical needs. This contract role spans the current school year, offering the opportunity to provide personalized nursing care within an educational setting.
Location:
Edison, NJ (student resides in East Newark, NJ, 07029)
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:30
PM Duration:
Contract through June 18th, 2025
Setting:
Middle school, onsite
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one nursing care for a medically fragile student diagnosed with cerebral palsy and non-ambulatory. Administer and monitor care in adherence to the student’s seizure and asthma plans. Manage the student’s specialized wheelchair and assist with mobility needs during transportation to the CP center in Belleville, NJ. Maintain accurate health records and communicate effectively with school staff and healthcare providers. Bus riding is required as part of the daily routine to ensure continuity of care during transport. Support bilingual communication with preference for Spanish-speaking candidates to enhance interactions with the student and family.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with valid state licensure. Experience in school-based nursing or pediatric care preferred. Ability to follow complex medical plans, including seizure and asthma protocols. Comfortable working with medically fragile students in one-on-one settings. Bilingual skills in Spanish are strongly preferred.
