Required Qualifications:
- One year of recent experience asan RN in a long-term care setting
- Valid RN license in compliancewith state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) or CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- ACLS Certification
- Othercertifications may be required depending on facility requirements
Summary:
A Registered Nurse (RN) in a long-term care (LTC) facilityprovides skilled nursing care to residents, ensuring their health,comfort, and well-being. RNs oversee patient care plans, administertreatments, monitor for changes in condition, and collaborate withhealthcare teams to provide high-quality, resident-centered care.
They also play a key role in supervising nursing staff, educatingresidents and families, and ensuring compliance with healthcareregulations and facility policies.
Essential Work Functions:
- Assess patient or resident health, monitor for changes, and takeappropriate action to ensure their well-being
- Develop, update,and implement personalized care plans in collaboration withresidents, families, and the patient care team
- Administermedications and treatments safely and accurately
- Observeresidents for any medication reactions or changes in condition andreport concerns to the healthcare provider
- Provide treatmentsincluding wound care, IV therapy, catheter management, and otherskilled procedures within scope of practice
- Supervise and supportLPNs and CNAs delegating appropriately and ensuring residentsreceive quality care
- Educate residents and families onmedications, treatments, and managing chronic conditions
- Documentcare provided, resident progress, and any health changes in atimely manner
- Respond quickly to emergencies, delivering criticalcare and coordinating with medical teams when needed
- Work closelywith physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals toensure coordinated, comprehensive care
- Perform other duties asassigned within the scope of practice
- Adhere to facility safetyprotocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
- Critical thinking, service excellenceand good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read,write, & communicate in the English language is required
- Abilityto read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment(50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
- Interpersonal Skills
- Towork effectively with a variety of personnel (professional andancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the generalpublic, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must beable to work under close supervision occasionally as well asworking without assistance from other personnel. Must be able tocontend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
