  • Albany, NY We have anexciting part time opportunity for a caring and compassionate RN tojoin our HIV Medicine Clinic team of dedicated healthcareproviders!

The Albany Medical College Division of HIV Medicine(DHIVM) offers comprehensive HIV services including primary medicalcare, medical case management, medication adherence, peer services,substance abuse counseling, mental health counseling andpsychiatric services, nutrition services, gynecological services,Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C management/ treatment, referral toclinical trials, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post exposureprophylaxis (PEP), and HIV counseling and testing. This is adynamic, quality focused, team-based department. Under thedirection of the practice physician and/or advanced practiceprovider (APP) and the supervision of the Nurse Manager (RN) and/orNurse Supervisor (RN), the RN may provide direct patient care,patient triage (in-person and telephonic), assessment, planning,directing and evaluating of a patient’s specific care plan andclinic visit. Able to work effectively within a team ofmulti-specialty professionals.

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
  • Obtains and accurately records patient’s vitalsigns; reports abnormal values to treating provider
  • Documentscomponents of patient’s history (Medical, Surgical and Social) inEHR
  • Obtains and documents a patient’s focused physicalassessment, related to the clinic visit and as dictated by clinicprocedure
  • Administers medications and treatments to patients inclinic, under the direction of a physician or APP
  • Assesses anddocuments response to medication and treatments rendered topatient, if applicable
  • Communicates in an open and appropriatemanner with patients, visitors and staff
  • Participates inin-office procedures under the direction and supervision of aPhysician or APP
  • Performs diagnostic POCT and CLIA waived testingper MD/APP order and documents results in EHR
  • Performsvenipuncture per order of MD/APP
  • Performs review and triage ofincoming test results, patient requests and pharmacy renewals;facilitates call-backs to patients as necessary
  • Facilitates theutilization of resources to meet patient outcomes and contribute toFacility (AMC), New York State and National Quality data metrics
  • Prepares patient’s chart for pertinent clinical information
  • Delegates tasks deemed appropriate per licensure of LPN and/or MA
  • Assists with in-office procedures, as related to Clinic Specialty
  • Adheres to AMC’s regulatory agency (The Joint Commission) andinternal compliance policies
  • Orientation and education of newlyhired staff
  • Completes continuous/annual education related toClinic specialty to maintain knowledge base on current practices
  • Provides education to patients related to their visit and overallhealth and wellness
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, and keepspatient examination rooms stocked
  • Other duties andresponsibilities, as within scope of practice, as required ordeemed necessary to clinic functionality
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree of a state accredited Registered Nursing programis required
