DESCRIPTION
The Albany County Department of Mental Health is seeking a Supervising Psychiatric Nurse for its Street Psychiatry program. The new Street Psychiatry Pilot Program will provide behavioral health services to homeless or unhoused residents in Albany County. Street Psychiatry is a nationally recognized model of engaging individuals in need who have traditionally been unable or reluctant to engage with traditional office-based behavioral health services. The Street Psychiatry Program will go beyond traditional models and meet people where they are at. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising and providing some in-office nursing services, as well as medical care for related conditions. The Supervising Psychiatric Nurse also coordinates the operation of nursing services with the psychiatric staff to ensure that the client’s medical needs are evaluated and referred to the appropriate services. The work is per- formed under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Clinical Operations. Supervision is exercised over the Psychiatric Nurses and Registered Professional Nurses. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EITHER:
A.Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience in professional nursing involving psychiatric clients; OR, B.Graduation from a School of Nursing approved by the New York State Education Department from a course approved by such department and three (3) years of experience in professional nursing involving psychiatric clients.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
