In this vital role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and positive experience for both mother and baby. You will work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Monitor the health and progress of laboring patients, including vital signs and fetal heart rates. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding the labor process, pain management options, and newborn care. Assist in the delivery of infants, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and child. Administer medications as prescribed and manage intravenous (IV) therapy. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans for patients. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Athenahealth. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care standards within the labor and delivery unit. Experience Current nursing license with experience in labor and delivery preferred. Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth is advantageous. Experience working with children or providing toddler care is a plus. Knowledge of diagnostic evaluations related to maternal-fetal health is beneficial. Experience in managing patients with developmental disabilities is desirable. Additional skills in areas such as botulinum toxin treatment or ophthalmology may enhance your candidacy.
